Rural Tea Party Group Busy, Growing

PRINCETON, MN – Freezing rain coated already slick roads on the 21st of January, making travel inconvenient, even by Minnesota standards. Despite the weather, as proceedings commenced in the Princeton library, late-comers to a Milaca Tea Party event continued to trickle in. Additional folding chairs were placed along the edge of the room to accommodate. The folk were plain, mostly older, orderly and attentive. The meeting opened with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Sue Bican took the floor and emceed a series of announcements and appeals for involvement. On February 4th, the start of the legislative session in Minnesota, there will be a rally south of the State Office Building in St. Paul. The Minnesota Sovereignty Project needs advocates to contact state legislators. Though the Tea Party organization is non-partisan, Minnesota caucuses happen February 2nd, and participation is strongly encouraged. Action was the theme common to each topic, and the struggle was local.

Elaine Philippe, described by her cohort as one who “works harder than anyone else”, delivered a report of the seven-member school board for District 477. Only two members had voted against a recently passed teacher pay increase which will cost the district $400,000. Philippe wanted those gathered to know their names. The measure passed during a period when financial reserves are all but depleted and money will have to be borrowed to keep schools running. Board members Kathy Kraft and Susan Spain may be thanked for their effort in spite of the outcome, Philippe said.

Mike Byrd, a local Tea Party coordinator, appealed for greater involvement from the attendees. Though the recent victory of Scott Brown in the Massachusetts senate race was heartening, “We can’t put our faith in someone out there in Massachusetts,” he stated. “We’ve got to do the same thing here, from a local level, school board, city council, county commissioners. Those are the people that graduate up, become senators, congressmen, and go on to the state house.” He encouraged people to be respectful of those who disagree and be wary of provocateurs who wish to cast the group in a bad light.

The keynote event was the hour long documentary film Fiat Empire, which details the creation and operation of the Federal Reserve System. The film laid out in concise detail how the privately controlled monetization of federal debt enables Congress to continue spending money without having to raise taxes. Inflation acts as a hidden tax, the film states. This arrangement enables politicians to have the best of both worlds, able to continually appease voters with largess from the public treasury while avoiding the political suicide of increased taxes.

When the meeting adjourned, many attendees remained to converse. On a cold wet school night, these citizen activists were gathered toward a purpose. “We’re going to outgrow this,” Bican stated privately, glancing around the conference room of the Princeton library. “The trouble is finding somewhere bigger that won’t charge for the space.”

Mr. Hudson, very nice report! Very exemplary! Now this is what I call news. This is the way it is done people... standing for what is important at the local in a peaceful, non-partisan, best behavior support for what is right... even if it's cold and rainy and getting late! Dealing with topics that are good and bad, not just complaining. Being involved and encouraging others to continue. Making those that show up comfortable and feel welcome. Using films to educate ourselves and others of historical matters. This is what I call my kind of Tea Party! Which is why I am so disappointed with some of the most recent posts prior to me getting here.

I am so sorry Resume Coach - I meant to say - You have no intellectual capital, that is why you resort to name calling - I guess it is like a knee - jerk reaction - They pose an point you have no response to so instead you call them a name. I get it, that is what we did in 3rd grade on the playground, too.

I guess we should hope to reach the level of genius of one of your compatriots on the page: brown60. Obama is great, Obama is good, Your all a bunch of faggots from da hood. Stand aside Shakespear! Now I know where our school tax dollars are being wisely spent! Please, oh Please -- Tax, me some mo' MASSA'

Resume Coach - I don't know who you are, what you believe or where you are from. But since you call Sarah Palin stupid (What was the last State you were Governor of?), condescendingly called your detractor "son", and the woman who spoke of her personal experience with blacks, a neo-con, racist, religious bigot. I KNOW you are a Democrat.

And I say - Thank You! And Please Keep on going - Get louder, get more strident, in the face of conservatives good manners, keep calling them names, and stupid and everything else you can dream up. You obviously have not intellectual capital and I have been trying to rouse these lovely intelligent hardworking kind people for years - with little success - you and your liberal idiots have managed to do in 6 months what we not so polite conservatives could not have done in a lifetime - THANK YOU and KEEP IT UP!!

This is a link to an article about reforming Congress through a two-thirds state convention amendment to the Constitution. Makes more sense than simply voting out the "bad guys".

Unfortunately, ‘ebrown60’ has been mesmerized by the anointed one and has no voice of his own. Maybe he will come out of his trace soon and engage in worthwhile dialogue…………….

resumecoach..

Check your thought process son... and you should probably look back into history a little bit more before you make statements like you just did. I am not even going to entertain your remark any further, as you are ill-informed, and obviously lack a decent sense of reason.

uh,

you people need to wake up--a big contributor on this site of your's--"SweetPea"--is all for Sarah-no brain-Palin. Sweet Pea also claims Ron Paul was not the founder of the orinial movement. In fact, he was, back in 2007--dumped tea into the harbor. Paul's movement was hijacked. It's the unedcuated, ill-informed comments of sweet pea, as well as Diane Capps at a recent tea party rally in WA--where she advocates Sen. Murray being hanged--is what will hurt this movement--when you start advocating violence after you rile the nation up with bird brains like Beck and Fox--then violence is the next stage--what Capp said--that is Nazi Germany before the war. Also makes teabeaggers look hypocritical--preaching family values, but advocating violence. Tebaggers are looking more and more like right-wing, neoconservative religious zealots who are racist. Don't think so--look at this other fine peice of work from Diane Capps:

http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:_hpGNWe5p_8J:teapartypatriots.ning.com/profile/diannecapps+Dianne+Capps&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

which is:

At 10:19pm on October 3, 2009, dianne capps said… I moved to Nacogdoches Tx from Clarkston Wa, and growing up here I knew very few blacks, but those I knew were educated and not racist to whites. I worked in the High school at Nacogoches I was very nieve to Southern Black Tradition. We are not recieved the same by all black people, as they are taught from birth that we think less of them. I was actually threatened one day in the school because I asked some Black Teen- agers to quiet down while a performance was going on by a white singer. It is not white people that carrry the banner. It is a certian group of Blacks who want to keep Black and whites in this culter banter. I have been on both sides and have some very wonderful black friends. It is those who want to find a place in Black Hate gangs that find the most unhappy lives.
WE have seen some of that coming out of Black Preachers, have we not, in Rev Wright?
DeeDee

Proof is in the pudding--and she can have federal charges brought aginst her for threatening a federal official--maximum penalty 6-10 plus fine. Your Welcome.

Under the circumstances, piss poor economy and fiscal irresponsibilty toward the already tax strapped taxpayer, you'd think more would have voted against the $400,000.(with union protection, and probably great health benifits and a better pension than most of you) sledge hammer. At least first considering the elimination or decrease in other areas to pay for but not as it seems you've done, on top of the existing budget as would be more in line with the tenets of the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT. One must be careful that the legitimacey, independence and common sense foundations of the movement aren't co-opted by welmeaning yet crafty politicos with agendas use the good name of the movement for their own ends !

One immediate objective is to band together and vote out those members of the House and Senate who are bankrupting this country. Today, February 4, 2010, the following House members voted to increase their spending authority which further bankrupts and makes it impossible for the USA to survive. VOTE THE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE! Render them unable to further detroy our beloved country.

Great to see the involvement of the TPP's up in MN! I'm a TPP here Rochester Hills, MI and currently attempting to pull together people at a local church, which might be a low/no cost option for you as well. Keep up the fight and I agree with the statement below... blood will run in the streets to invoke a change for the PEOPLE!
WalterScottHudson Wednesday, February 03, 2010 6:36:19 AM
@MSGret1, At 31 years of age, I was among the absolute youngest. There a couple younger adults that looked in their 20's, and a gal around my age running a video camera. Excluding those, I'd say the median age was about 55 or maybe even 60. This wasn't my neck of the woods. I live about an hour from there. I'm trying to connect with the TPP in my area and see if there's anything they can learn from these Milaca folk or vice versa. They were very well organized.

Older, like baby boomers? How many groups where there? What is the organizational structure of the group?

Organizational structure is very important. But like in the Revolutionary War there had to be some to command and expect other to obey or we would still be an English colony.

As a disabled retire veteran, rest assured the full effectiveness of the TTP will be greatly increased.

We are in a war. One as important as the Revolutionary War. The TTP is Americas last great hope to return power to the people, its weapon truth and active involvement in politics, a dirty game.

We are volunteers in a Army. Instead of taking Mike's appeal for more active involvement consider it an order, then ask Mike what can I do.

Surely there is Veterans some person that has served in the military.

Organize along the lines of a Army. We are a Army if we loose this fight for the soul of the USA, I predict blood will run in the streets.

Let's go team.
